The Art of Pastels

Pastels have been a hot fashion trend for at least three seasons. Icy blue, pale pink, and minty green were popular for fall and, while they’re back for spring, warmer pastels such as peachy sherbet, lilac, and rosy pink are also coming on strong.  Add a few of WoWo’s favorite pale pieces to your wardrobe.

Wearing Pastels at Work

If you’re considering incorporating pastels in your workday look, keep these tips in mind.

  • Balance with neutrals – Pastels look most chic when paired with a neutral – work in a nude heel, gray blazer, or crisp white shirt.
  • Toughen Up – For pastel accessories, look for a mix of soft and tough. For example, a pastel handbag looks more office-friendly in a structured shape, and with design features like color blocking, mixed fabrics or prominent hardware.

  • Give some shade – Add some pop by mixing shades of a pastel (e.g., a lilac shirt and radiant orchid pant).Pastel Pop

  • Keep it clean – Go for clean lines and little fuss – no ruffles, frills, and other ultra-feminine touches.
