A Silver Lining

Why silver is not just for special occasions.

I plan to put silver to work in 2014.  It is futuristic, a little punk, and a lot of fun. A punch of silver can sizzle up neutrals, brighten colors, and add pizzazz to a monochromatic suit.

For 9-to-5, I’ll keep the shiny to accessories such as shoes, handbags, and belts. Metallic is a spring ’14 trend so if you have any, hold on to them. If you don’t, here’s some inspiration on how to work in the tinny color.

A pop of wow.

Get pumped in a hot hue.

Silver draws the eye – keep your outfit simple and cool to let the metal really stand out.

Go for minimal frills in silver accessories – clean pieces and structural details vs. bells and whistles (e.g., fringe, chains, etc.) that can look too ‘prom’ style.
